We were discussing the other day which was worse not talking with God daily through daily prayer or not listening to Him daily through daily scripture reading. What do you think?
I must admit being grateful for both and mindful that both significantly impact the tempo and tenor of a day and a night. We are about done with the Book of Mormon, yet again, and truly enjoy the Book of Ether. Tonight's reading Ether 6 with at least two highlights
“taught from on high” requires. . . (Ether 6: 17)

It is nearly impossible for me to choose what is the greater of the two evils on this list. But I am going to have to come down on the side of not praying. Why? Because when you really pray you both speak and listen. So it has a elements of both in it.
The difficulty of the choices is what makes the conversation interesting. I too think that the dialogue potentialmakes prayer more essential. Though it is interesting to note that one is sometimes counseled to at least read one little verse but not one word prayers.
