Thanksgiving Tradition

All bedecked in plaid the first annual one-week beard growing contest was part of the festivities. Appropriately enough we all wore plaid.

Longest growth in a week = Tim
Best color = Evan
All-Around look and composition = BRIGHAM

There were some disputes but we all looked grand

parade and movie day

Parades are an integral part of our little community. Every major holiday has one. The Thanksgiving parade highlights – other than being a four block walk from the house include the ever popular adopt – a –dog, day care centers, Irish dancers, holiday floats and of course the marching Star Wars Club in full costume – sorry the photos didn’t work my battery died.

The parade was followed by a basement showing of UP. A movie which made me reflect on father and missing him, fondly remembering the 90 balloon salute but as Rindy observed left the invitation to embrace the next adventure – which we are. The virtual non-dialogue overview of their relationship was an enjoyable technique. A fun movie for all.

Thanksgiving

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others - Cicero

Silent gratitude isn't very much use to anyone - G.G. Stearn

Sometimes I go about pitying myself. And all the week I am carried on great winds across the sky - Lakota Sioux

What a wonderful time of year. There is so much to be grateful for and acknowledge the hand of the Lord. Today from 9 am - 3pm we volunteered as the wait staff at Meson Sabika ( The Willoway Mansion was built in 1847 and sits on a pristine four-acre estate near downtown Naperville.) The restaurant, with an assist from their vendors & volunteers, donated some 1800 meals to those in need. I have better respect for those who spend their day on their feet being gracious. It was a wonderful family activity and reinforced how much we have to be grateful for in today's world. Brigham's friends attending U of Indiana dental school, Chris & Kristin Tobler, joined us for a few days .

Temple Ready

The first day with the boys home was spent first at the temple where just our family group did 80 ordinances. Temples are for families and for feeling the Spirit - it was a day of thanksgiving for both.

Afterward Brigham & Parker headed downtown for the afternoon.

That's Incredible

An amazingly brutal soccer game.
And in candor i thought I'd seen nasty play but nothing quite like this.
